FoloCam 1.3 is now available on the App Store. There are a few important updates in this new version.
This version includes an improved Soccer Pro mode that is more responsive to fast-moving balls. You should notice smoother camera movements as a result of this improvement. Please note that Soccer Pro mode can only be used with iPhone 14 Pro or newer, or iPhone 15 or newer. For best results, iPhone 15 Pro or newer, or any iPhone 16 or 17 model, is recommended.
This version also adds an Auto Zoom option for both soccer modes. If you’re new to FoloCam, please do not enable this option, since the feature is still experimental and may affect tracking accuracy.
A slider for specifying the tripod height has also been added. The tripod height is mainly used to calculate the tilt-down angle. Previously, the default tilt-down angle was 0° with a range of [-20°, 20°]. Now, the default tilt-down angle is automatically determined by the tripod height and the field width, while keeping the same [-20°, 20°] adjustment range.
There is also a new option to lock the tilt angle. When enabled, the gimbal will not tilt up or down to follow the ball. This option is designed for situations where you are filming from far away, such as from stadium seating, while using 3× zoom. Do not use this option when the tripod is close to the field, because the vertical field of view may not be large enough to cover the entire field.
