Operating the Folocam/Comitok Mogo in cold weather

It was significantly colder outside at the last soccer game I streamed/recorded.

My iPhone battery drained a lot faster and shut down during filming. I plugged the iPhone to a backup battery and warmed it up in my pocket during halftime.

I kept the iPhone connected to a backup battery for the second half of the game. The iPhone continued to work, but the Comitok gimble would not connect with Folocam. Tracking didn’t work, even after powering the gimble off and on and pressing the “tracking” button.

The gimble still worked when manually aiming the iPhone camera at the action in the game.

Any ideas on what I could’ve done to get the gimble to connect with the iPhone/Folocam?

I am having an issue with my setup as well, and just reading over your post reminded me that my issues started at the same time I tweaked my setup to include a battery bank charging the phone while recording. Not sure if it’s related, but wanted to have a “record” of something similar happening to your issue even if it’s not related.

Did you check your logs to see if you are getting any error/disconnect messages?
